Cloudy, mild, S 4 - A breezy but mostly dry morning for a tour of the peninsula commenced at Dungeness foreshore with a trickle of south-bound Swallows, plus two Wheatears around the fishing containers. From the boats very little was on the move apart from a few distant Gannets, terns and a couple of Arctic Skuas. On the reserve there was a noticeable increase in Pintails and Wigeons on Burrowes, plus 200 Lapwings, a Ruff and a Ringed Plover. Plenty of Chiffchaffs called from cover and on the walk back from the pines a late Hobby fizzed overhead chasing a House Martin. There was no change to the birds at Lade since my last visit. Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard and Marsh Harrier were all logged this morning. Last nights moth catch in the garden trap included six typical autumn species including a Clancy`s Rustic.
