Weather change

Lade - cool, cloudy, drizzle, W4 - In contrast to the fine weather of yesterday a brisk westerly airflow delivered bands of mizzle and low cloud across the peninsula throughout the morning. Needless to say migrants were in short supply with only Blackcap and Chiffchaff singing from the willow swamp, while a Great White Egret was still present in the reed bed on south lake.
An Angle Shades was new for the year in the Plovers moth trap.

RSPB - A birding walk around the circular route for the Society proved difficult in the strong wind and rain with few passerines noted. However, Sedge, Cetti`s, Willow Warblers and Chiffchaff were all heard, plus Linnets and Reed Buntings. Also noted, 10 Wigeon on Dengemarsh; pair of Marsh Harriers tussling over Hooker`s reed bed; a pair of Smews on Burrowes; Shelducks and Lapwings on the hayfields; 2 Slavonian Grebes on New Diggings.
