Dungeness - warm, dry and sunny, SW5 - A blustery morning for my monthly guided walk around the circular trail during which few passerines were seen due to the strong wind. However, a sprinkling of waders saved the day, all on Burrowes, including five Little Ringed and two Ringed Plovers, two Black-tailed Godwits, three Common Sandpipers and singles of Wood Sandpiper, Dunlin, Ruff and a Whimbrel over calling. There was still plenty of Common Tern activity from Firth lookout and a juvenile Black Tern remained. Hundreds of Sand Martins streamed across the wetlands and two Barnacle Geese were amongst the feral geese at Dengemarsh where at least three Great White Egrets were present. Willow, Sedge, Cetti`s and Reed Warblers and Lesser Whitethroat were all heard along the way while two Clouded Yellows were noted amongst loads of Painted Ladies. From Hanson hide earlier I had two Garganeys and a Bar-headed Goose within the usual wildfowl.
