Goldcrests

Lade - 0700hrs - Mild, wet and windy, wsw 4 - It must be October as first bird of the day was a small flock of Goldcrests in the garden conifers along with a few Chiffchaffs and Robins. The rain started about 0800hrs and continued in one way or another throughout the day with an increasingly blustery wind.
Checked the waders on the bay this afternoon as the tide receded and counted the following: 425 Oystercatchers, 215 Curlews, 50 Dunlins, 30 Sanderlings, 25 Barwits, 15 Knots and single figures of Redshanks, Turnstones and Ringed Plovers. Couldn`t find any Grey Plovers though. Oddest of all was a lone Canada Goose on the beach.
Dungeness - 1500hrs - Joined MH at the boats for a short seawatch. A few Gannets, Sandwich and Commic Terns offshore plus an Arctic Skua and 2 Red-throated Divers was about it.
