Marsh Owls

Dengemarsh - 1400hrs - cool, dry, sunny, e2 - At last the wind has dropped making birding considerably more enjoyable. Picked up Bill, Ann and Mary from Ashford who`re down from the West Midlands for a weeks natural historying (if there is such a word). Spent the afternoon checking out Tree Sparrows, Marsh Harriers, Bearded Tits and booming Bittern. Also noted from the ramp 2 Hobbies, Pochard, 50 Swifts and all the usual warblers, plus the nesting Common Terns from the hide.
At the south end of ARC, LRP, 2 Little Egrets, Shoveler and Teal.

                                Little Owl, Walland Marsh

Walland Marsh - Had a very successful foray out this evening in perfect weather (sunshine and light airs) looking for owls. A turkey-shed Little Owl showed well hunting worms and feeding a fully fledged young; plus 6 Corn Buntings and a Yellow Wagtail nearby. Elsewhere 2 Barn Owls were noted one which we watched hunting over rough grass for 20 minutes. Superb views and three very happy birdwatchers. Also noted 4 Marsh Harriers, Yellowhammer, Cuckoo and a Buzzard nearby.
