Lade - 0700hrs - cool, cloudy, w 3 - The poor weather continued into June driving down a hundred or more Swifts and House Martins to feed low over south lake. Around the more sheltered reedbed margins it was noticeable that House Sparrows were plundering masses of insect larva of unknown type emerging from the reed stems. On the shingle ridges a male Stonechat sat atop scrub attempting to hold territory despite the blustery wind.
Dengemarsh - A tour of the hayfields yielded all the usual feral geese, Little Egrets, Shelducks and Lapwings, while plenty of Swifts swooped low over the lake. Several Yellow Wagtails and a Raven also noted, otherwise though pretty quiet.
