LRPs

Dungeness - 0900hrs - misty start, clearing, sunny am, cloudy pm, sw 2 - We started off in hazy light searching for passerines and soon located the obligatory Wheatears, Skylarks, Linnets, Pied Wagtails and Mipits, plus Goldfinch over, Chiffchaff in the lighthouse garden and a Swallow inbound. From the fishing boats on the beach the 1st winter Glaucous Gull was still present. A 30 minute seawatch from the concrete road and another from the hide delivered 50 Brents, 30 Common Scoters, 20 Gannets, five Sandwich Terns, five Kittiwakes, three Red-throated Divers and three Porpoises.

                               Early Purple Orchid, Dungeness

                                Skylark, Dungeness

RSPB - The highlights here were a singing Willow Warbler in the car park scrub, three Yellow Wagtails over, three Little Gulls on ARC, plus the usual Marsh Harriers, Little Egrets, Tree Sparrows and common wildfowl.
Galloways - Pretty quiet here apart from two pairs of Stonechats and loads of Linnets.
Scotney - Cracking session on the grass with two pairs of Little Ringed Plovers, our first of the year (if only I was keeping a year list...) within a flock of 23 Ringed Plovers, 18 Dunlin (two in summer plum), four Redshanks, Avocet and  Grey Plover. Noted a Red-legged Partridge and a Hare on the way home near the airport, but could find no sign of the Long-tailed Duck on ARC.

  1. Troddy, it's a real shame that you're not keeping a year list....
