Seawatching

Dungeness - mild, cloudy, light airs, hazy viz - 0530 -0830hrs - A seawatch from the hide in poor light was slow going but did deliver a steady flow of Common and Sandwich Terns, Gannets, a few Common Scoters, Kittiwakes, Whimbrels, Bar-wits, two Sanderlings, two Shelducks, a Red-throated Diver, two Fulmars, two Mediterranean Gulls, four Little and one Black Tern, six Little Gulls, four Arctic and a Pomarine Skua. Most seabirds birds were way offshore and a few Swallows came in. On the way off the Estate a Merlin flew across the road. Another hour this evening (1900 -2000 hrs) produced a few terns, Gannets and a Bonxie up-Channel. On the way home I called in at Lade where a Bittern was `booming`, a first for me here.
