Woodlarks

Lade - Lockdown Day 13 - warm, dry and sunny, se 2 - A cracking spring morning weather wise, but very little to report on the bird front from our circular walk apart from two Woodlarks over the aerial mound lookout heading south. I picked them up at some distance over the caravan park in typical undulating flight and short-tailed, broad winged profile. One passed so close I could make out the pale head stripe and black and white pattern on the wing bend, and just to confirm the id one of them called making it the 87th species for the Lockdown List. I`ve recorded flyovers here before, but only in the autumn, and not for some years, so all in all an odd and surprising record.
The only other points of interest today concerned 28 Ringed Plovers on the beach and, sadly, a dead Grey Seal washed up opposite Derville Raod.
